I started reading your book online and just bought a copy. The definition of progressive Christianity in your book definitely resonates with me and echoes conversations I've had with friends (late 20s-early 40s) about Christianity. Thank you for this book.

For those who are curious about the title of the book, "Kissing Fish," it's a double-entendre. It refers to the Jesus fish emblem and the Darwin fish emblem that I had kissing each other on the back bumper of my old car (conveying that not evolutionary science and christianity are not mutually exclusive or incompatible... and reminding atheists/secularists that not all christians think like they may think they think). The title also symbolizes the wariness and apprehension that many people have about Christianity -- that the idea of engaging with it is sort of "like kissing a fish." : P

RJWalker, while my introductory words for that sermon are a bit muted, when i start preaching the volume should be just fine.

1: Would it be possible to get the "Roger preaching" clip at a higher volume? I can barely hear it on my system! 2: two basic approaches to Christianity, conservative and progressive, Another aspect of the breakdown I've been thinking of lately: What is the Role Jesus plays in my life and salvation (which often seems pretty ego-centric to me- "I'm saved") and What is the role Jesus teaches me to play in the lives of others. Both are important, of course - the differences I see are the degrees to which people let each play out in their faith. Namaste!
